The Watsons All in Sprintcar Express a huge success

The event supported by Watsons Express Transport and young guns Robert Watson Jnr, Ben Ellement and Speedcar ace Scott Glazebrook all flew the flag for Watsons Racing in the first running of the Watsons All in Sprintcar Express.

“It worked out well as young Rob was running the 410 Ben was in a Limited and Scotty was in a 360 so we had a car in each of the categories.  I was quite impressed with young Scott, being his first time behind the wheel of a 360 in a big race he equipped himself well and if all goes wheel may get another opportunity again if we run some more meetings like this one” Said a very happy Rob Watson Snr.

In his first hit out after his season ending operation Ben Ellement was out there enjoying himself in the Rocca Zemunik owned Limited and he came away with two heat wins and was holding down a top three position in the final when a mechanical problem caused him to park the car.

“Big thanks to Rob and the boys at Watsons Ellenbrook put on a great track that suits Sprintcars congratulations to Kris and thanks to Rocca for the ride look forward to next year” Said Ellement.

The Ice Man turned some heads when he came home third overall in his first outing in a 360 and in doing so was the second 360. As always Glazebrooks’ smooth cool nature assisted when it counted as he drove with his head towards the front.

“It was great I had a ball I hope I get another opportunity at some time to have another drive of the Watsons cars. They made me and my family, feel very welcome” Said Glazebrook.

It was a mixed bag for young Robert Watson Jnr as he fought an ill handling car in the first heat, then went on and recorded a good result in his second but it all went pear shaped for him in heat three when two cars spun in front of the young charger and Watson spun to reduce the impact only to clip one of the cars and flip. Watson walked away unscathed with the team frantically working to get the car ready for the final.

“It was one of those things I tried to miss it but had nowhere to go and over I went, I am getting sick of having these crashes that’s for sure”.

With the car repaired in time for the feature Watson was making steady progress and spent a number of laps fighting with the team car driven by Scott Glazebrook. Watson eventually got clear and several laps later, Watson pulled infield, due to a part failure from the earlier crash.

‘It was a great day unfortunately these things happen but it was great to race at Ellenbrook against so many Sprintcars for a change I can’t wait for the next one” Said Watson Jr.

With some great support for the event by SJ Crushing and Peel Fisheries the Watsons All in Sprintcar Express show was definitely a success. A very healthy crowd cemented the future of the event with a number of drivers already committing to run in the next one.

“There were a few teething problems that we have already sat down and worked through, we want to make these events bigger and better and with the support of Ellenbrook and it’s hard working crew I am sure we can build these shows into major meetings that everyone wants to be a part of”. Watson commented.

The Promotion Group would like to thank: Ellenbrook Speedway, SJ Crushing, Peel Fisheries, Watsons ‘Express Transport, SpeedSport media and all the drivers and supporters which made the event such a success.
